Monday Motivational: Why Struggle is Necessary for Progress

Struggle is a funny thing. It’s an inconvenience, a possible deterrent, and an aggravating stressor. However, it’s a necessary evil.

When I was a sophomore in college, I attended a leadership event through the business fraternity I was a part of. The speaker that day touched on something that I remember to this day. She said “If you’re really uncomfortable, that means you’re growing.”

Struggle is uncomfortable yet goes hand-in-hand with growth and progress. Whether you’re venturing out on new career path after a job loss, going back to school, starting your own business or breaking in to a new industry, there will always be a level of discomfort and it will be scary. Anything new can be terrifying at times and, as you learn, there will be times of struggle. But how you handle that struggle can make or break your growth.
