The One Thing Holding You Back from Becoming Extraordinary
On the morning of June 25, 2017 my book, Fighting FIRED with Fire was released into the world. I was thrilled and terrified, all at the same time. To share my single greatest professional struggle was tough. But I had built a fabulously supportive launch team, sought the guidance of my author group, Self-Publishing School, and posted my book on all of the free ebook Facebook groups and websites.
But there was still one last platform for me to “announce” my book on – my personal Facebook page.
At the time, I would have rather had a root canal. I had no idea the reaction or judgement I would receive from my network of friends. I was incredibly conflicted and literally spent all day crafting the perfect post. By 3 p.m. that day, I had mustered up the courage to close my eyes and hit the “Post” button.
And guess what? The world didn’t end! Instead, I received tons of messages of support and my download rate spiked considerably. I also was very shocked to hear stories from friends who, too, had been affected by sudden job loss.
To think, I almost didn’t share my book because I was afraid.
Fear has a pretty accurate acronym – False Evidence Appearing Real. But unfortunately, we, all too often, buy into fear’s bullshit.
Fear is the only thing holding us back from truly being extraordinary.
Don’t fall for fear’s bullshit, whatever it is you’re seeking to accomplish. It’s that one annoying thing that you can’t get rid of but have the power to silent.
