Just Show Up – Even When You’re Uninspired

Untitled design (24).png

I’m feeling very uninspired today. The weather is cold and dreary here in Upstate New York and I did not want to get out of bed. Fortunately, I have a little four-legged fur-person who is up and at ‘em every day at 5 a.m. - like a real life alarm clock!

So today, I turn to one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Gilbert for an incredible bit of wisdom. In one of her past TedTalks, Gilbert had this to say.

“If you want it to be better, you've got to show up and do your part of the deal. But if you don't do that, you know what, the hell with it. I'm going to keep writing anyway because that's my job. And I would please like the record to reflect today that I showed up for my part of the job."

“Just do your job. Continue to show up for your piece of it, whatever that might be.”

So, if you’re feeling unmotivated or uninspired today, take a cue from my pal Liz, and just show up.

Here’s to showing up,

P.S. - If you haven’t read her latest book Big Magic, please put it on your “to-read” list  – it’s beyond wonderful!
